Most people know about Prime Minister’s Questions, a rather robust session in Parliament which takes place every Wednesday lunchtime.
Only backbench MPs can ask one of these questions and even then, because there are over 500 backbench MPs, each MP will not get a chance more than once or twice a year.
Because I have been a government minister for so long I have not been able to ask a PMQ for 8 years. I did so during the 31st January session of Prime Minister’s Questions. From 2016-2022 I served as a Government Minister and so was prohibited from asking these types of question during this time.
PMQs takes place every Wednesday when Parliament is sitting and provides an opportunity for Members of Parliament from all parties to question the Prime Minister on any topic.
I used my question to clarify the UK’s stance regarding a two-state solution between Israel and the Palestinian Authority, which remains a long-term aspirational goal for a sustainable peace in that troubled region.
