I recently visited Headlands Primary School in my Northampton North constituency to speak not only to the pupils but also to the CEO of the Northampton Primary Academy Trust (NPAT) about the future of education in Northamptonshire.
I always enjoy speaking to pupils about how politics works and my role as the Member of Parliament for Northampton North. I was impressed by the Year 6 pupils at Headlands Primary and hope that they maintain their interest in politics.
I also met the NPAT CEO to discuss their plans on the future of their schools – including Headlands Primary. The current core national schools budget is at its highest ever at over £42 billion a year and I hope and expect that education in the town can continue to improve – we have some great schools in Northampton and I am keen to help ensure that every school child is given a first class education.
