As an MP, I think it is very important that I do all I can to support medical innovation that can help lengthen and improve the lives of people living in Northampton North.
I recently attended a parliamentary reception held by the JDRF, the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, who have made exciting developments in creating new treatments for those affected by Type 1 Diabetes.
Help is needed to support research into treatments for complex conditions like Type 1 diabetes: in the last Parliament I introduced the Medical Innovation Bill, which was designed to make it easier for doctors to use pioneering new treatments for conditions, especially cancers. I am very pleased that this bill, under a new name and with full government support, has now made it into law as the Access to Medical Treatments (Innovation) Act 2016.
