I was recently invited to visit Arbours Primary School in Northampton to meet the Headteacher of the School, Angela Watts, and have a look around the school again.
I was very pleased to hear that the school has recently been ranked as “Outstanding” by Ofsted. This is an extremely impressive achievement.
Ms Watts and I discussed the challenges faced by primary schools.
In my view it is really important for primary age children to develop good social skills from an early age. To help with this, the government has committed to prohibiting phones in classrooms, which you can read more about here: https://www.gov.uk/government/news/government-launches-crackdown-on-mobile-phones-in-schools
During my 14 years as an MP, I have visited schools in Northampton many times, to hear of the issues they face and discuss our political and parliamentary system with young people of all ages.
