Following on from last month’s Sports Reception at Downing Street, I was recently invited by the Secretary of State for the Environment and the Minister of State for Food, Farming and Fisheries to nominate someone from Northampton who is involved in the food or drink business to visit
No. 10 Downing Street and attend the “Backing British Food and Drink” reception.
I nominated Tony Ansell, who runs the extremely popular Café in Abington Park and has previously served as the Mayor of Northampton and had remained a long-standing Councillor for the Abington ward.
The community receptions at Downing Street are an excellent means by which MPs can distinguish local individuals and businesses who have made a contribution to their area.
